When I got home on Friday, after the nightmare journey that never ended, I let Alf out into the garden. We were greeted by colour everywhere we looked. Two years ago, the garden was full of green - different shades and some variegation to be sure - but predominantly green.
Where the border had been covered in a tangle of green shrubs and trees,
the Spring bulbs were flowering; blue, yellow, and white.
Most of the plants in the Physic Garden are coming through, and some of them are even in flower. There are also a couple that weren't planted that have come up now there is sunlight replacing the shadow of trees and ground cover.
The violets have continued to flower
and though damaged by frosts last week, the Camelia is once again in full bloom.
The lettuces have been planted out in their trough, and the tomatoes are thriving in the conservatory, waiting for the end of the frosts before they go out into the waiting greenhouse.
Nature is part of the healing process; I have enjoyed it in its wild form in LevantII and returned to a garden that is bursting with new growth.
